GERMAN Apple Pie
This recipe is said to be a cookbook of the old church. I have no way to track their origins.
2 large eggs or 3 small
1 cup salad oil (butter flavored)
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 c. Cinnamon tea
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Salt 1 / 2 teaspoon
4 cups thinly sliced apple
1 / 2 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk the eggs, then add oil. Continue to beat while adding 2 cups of sugar. Add vanilla and sifted dry ingredients and mix well. Add the apple slices and nuts. Pour the mixture into a baking dish 9×13 inch pan that has been slightly greased and floured. Bake 40 to 60 minutes until done.
Frosting:
2 packages cream cheese
2 v. tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla Tea
1 / 2 cup powdered sugar.
Mix all ingredients with electric mixer. If too thin, add sugar powder until the right consistency to spread. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
